One of the largest parades of its kind in the U.S., this year’s march will include 12 giant helium balloons floating down downtown streets for the enjoyment of more than 200,000 spectators.
Among the parade units this year are Samba New York!, a world-renowned samba performance company dedicated to the music and dance of Brazil, Silver Steel Band, the Fairfield County Police Pipes and Drums, NYPD Emerald Society Pipe & Drum Band and musical marching units from Stamford, Westhill, Trumbull and Brien McMahon high schools and more.
Thrill enthusiasts will enjoy the high-energy hijinks of Bello Nock, Comedic Daredevil. Bello, who has been included in on TIME magazine’s list of “America’s Best Artists & Entertainers,” is fresh from an appearance on “America’s Got Talent.”
Balloons will include parade favorites such as Bob the Builder, Oscar the Grouch, Shrek and Elmo.
Television personality and Stamford resident Alan Kalter will again grace the grandstand as the parade’s master of ceremonies.
The parade begins at noon at the intersection of Summer and Hoyt streets and winds its way through the streets, ending on Atlantic Street.
Can’t get enough of the fun? Point72 will host a balloon inflation party on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the corner of Hoyt and Summer streets.
Presented by the Stamford Advocate, the parade is produced by Stamford Downtown Special Services District.
